A little about me
Now based in sunny Sydney, I've spent nearly two decades living and working overseas (in London, Dubai and Berlin).
After graduating from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Business (double major in Marketing and Management), I hot-footed it to London in 2000.
I spent nearly a decade working in marketing and operations, first as a DVD Product Planner for film distributors and then in account management for top marketing agencies.
Managing multiple projects meant I developed razor-sharp organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
But I've always been a word nerd.
So, in 2010, I retrained as a journalist with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), the 'gold standard' training program for journalists in the UK.
I learnt how to write clear, concise and accurate news stories (and how to master shorthand squiggles).
Since then, I've honed my multimedia storytelling skills as a Content Editor across the Parenting Group at one of the UK's biggest multi-platform publishers in London and for a stable of branded magazines at Dubai's largest content marketing agency.
I love using data and insights to shape content decisions and have written about a broad range of topics, from tech start-ups in Dubai to women's security and justice in Nepal, where I was sent on assignment as a finalist in The Guardian’s International Development Journalism Awards.
